Who is Mike Dean?
I am a recent graduate of the Industrial Design program at the Rochester Institute of Technology who is passionate about creating products that are able to excite consumers and enrich their lives through the experience of using them. I am particularly interested in designing footwear and clothing, as I feel that wearable products have an exceptional ability to impact people in this way – rather than simply using them, these products essentially act as extension of the user’s body.
I look to design products that are less restrictive to the daily lives of the consumer. I believe products should simplify and enhance their experiences throughout each day, not detract from them. Additionally, while the function of a product is certainly integral, how the user feels psychologically, remaining conscious of how the product looks while it is being worn throughout their day, is super important to me. I want to create products that excite, inspire, and empower people to be the best version of themselves.
I am constantly seeking opportunities to work with and learn from others that share a similar passion for improving the human experience through design in attempts to shape a better future. I hope to continue this pursuit of growth in the form of an internship, apprenticeship or full-time position.
